Orielle Anaïs [Santa Barbara, CA] is a multimedia artist working in contemporary figurative abstraction.
Her practice explores the intersection of realism and abstraction, engaging the body as a site of expression, rhythm, and sensory dialogue.
She works primarily in oil painting and mixed-media sculpture.
”in my work, I engage the body as an active force rather than a passive form.
The nude figure is not just an expression of desire but a realization of the shared pulse that makes us human.
I depict the body as it truly is: not something separate to judge or covet, but as someone whole and alive with music.”
The body is an instrument.
Its resonance is not defined by appearance but by how it transmits rhythm, sensation, and presence.
“My work explores the body beyond physical form—beyond objectification or idealization—toward a deeper understanding of its role as an instrument for communication and connection.”
In addition to her full-time studio practice, Orielle collaborates with other artists. In February 2024, she contributed to a mural with Matt Willy’s The Good of the Hive, a global initiative to raise awareness about pollinators and climate change.
In her sculpture practice, she merges classical techniques with unconventional materials, incorporating newspaper, aluminum foil, found objects, masking tape, and plaster to challenge traditional notions of form and permanence.
